Highdown School 6th Form Centre – Washroom Refurbishment

Highdown School based in Reading, contacted Interfix to carry out their washroom refurbishment project when they realised time was up with the aesthetics of their washrooms. They were old, vandalised and partially shut down. They envisioned open unisex toilets to combat any further vandalism and bullying.

Interfix set to work on complete strip out and demolition of both areas, then began the re-configuration of space to suit the new open layout design. Vinyl flooring was installed as well has hygienic wall cladding, suspended ceilings, ventilation systems, lighting, full height solid grade laminate Velocity cubicles, solid surface washtroughs, sanitaryware and new hand dryers.

Full height cubicles were used to create maximum privacy in the environment, whilst hygienic wall cladding provided an easy wipe clean surface to reduce future maintenance. With full height cubicles individual lighting and extract is required.

The project was carried out in term time which brought with it additional planning when removing waste and bringing deliveries in. We encountered a few issues with the existing structure and removing walls and some awkwardly placed manholes, nevertheless Interfix worked round these problems and completed 2 successful washroom areas for the school during term time.
